Annotia is operated by 333 Studios ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use annotia.io (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, full name, and optionally your institution, ORCID, LinkedIn username, bio, and avatar. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including papers you view, save, and comment on, confidence votes you cast, and collections you create.

Payment information: If you subscribe to Annotia Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To personalize your experience (e.g., saved papers, collections, alerts)
• To generate AI-powered paper summaries using your search queries
• To facilitate community discussions and comments
• To process Pro subscription payments
• To send you notifications about activity on papers you've engaged with
• To respond to your feedback or support requests

3. AI Analysis

When you request an AI analysis of a paper, the paper's abstract and metadata are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the analysis. We do not send your personal information to AI providers. Results are cached in our database so the same paper doesn't need to be re-processed.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored in Supabase, hosted in the United States (US West region). We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting
• Stripe — payment processing (Pro subscribers only)
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI analysis generation (paper metadata only, not personal data)
• Vercel — website hosting and serverless functions
• Google — authentication (if you use Google sign-in)

6. Your Public Profile

Your display name, role, and comments are visible to other users. Your email address is never publicly displayed. You can edit your profile information at any time from your dashboard.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use analytics cookies or third-party tracking. We use only essential cookies required for authentication (Supabase session tokens stored in localStorage).

8. Your Rights

You can:

• Access and update your profile information from your dashboard
• Delete your comments
• Request deletion of your account by emailing us
• Export your data by contacting us

9. Age Requirement

Annotia is not intended for users under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on the Service.
